original to a 1961 Minneapolis home that was built by the owner of Stewart lumber. this is the first time we have come across this type of wood. At first glance, I thought it was maple. Eucalyptus grandis, commonly known as the rose gum or flooded gum, is a very tall, fast-growing hardwood tree native to the eastern coast of Australia. It’s a durable Hardwood rated similar to Red Oak on the janka hardness scale.
due to the staples and some type of coating on top that made the board stick together, is very challenging to remove . Many of the boards are good in some places and damaged at the edge where they stuck to the board next to them. We are giving these away with the staples in them to someone willing to put in the elbow grease and make use of them. Pick up in South Minneapolis.
